Cassandra Wilson

Cassandra Wilson is regarded by many as the most accomplished vocalist in jazz. She’s achieved that distinction by ranging far beyond the traditional vocal jazz repertoire, offering radically re-imagined versions of songs by Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, U2, Ann Peebles, Robert Johnson and others. Even when singing a standard from the Great American Songbook, she imbues her performance with powerful blues alchemy and nuanced sophistication that is a wonder to experience. Cassandra Wilson first performed at SummerStage in 1995.
