Central Park SummerStage
SummerStage Benefit Concert
Kurt Loder once called them "the coolest band in the universe" and whether or not you agree, you have to admit that the Beastie Boys are one of the most engaging. These quintessential New York wise-asses were the first white guys to actually rap well; they perfected hip-hop sampling on their 1989 album Paul's Boutique, and they became models of the Gen-X entrepreneurship, starting their own label, magazine and clothing line, all the while releasing incredible albums like Ill Communication and Hello Nasty. Who would have thought the snotty, beer-swilling jokers of "Fight For Your Right To Party" would become one of the best groups of the last 20 years?
