From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Central Park SummerStage

Artists from Mexico, featuring an award-winning pop sensation and an outré alternative rock band. Presented in association with the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC).

Julieta Venegas, from Mexico, is a songwriter, bilingual vocalists and multi-instrumental musician especially skilled on the cello and accordion. She has produced four albums, including a compilation of her greatest hits (Realmente lo Mejor), and has won one Grammy, two Latin Grammys and three MTV Video Music Awards.

Thrash metal and avant-garde meet when Plastilina Mosh takes the stage. In 1996, Alejandro Rosso and Juan Jose Gonzalez moshed their completely opposite musical styles into a serendipitous mix that broke genres. By 2005, Plastilina Mosh had released three albums and scored a hit with “Niño Bomba.” The group’s skillful mix of rap, dance and rock in a jumble of languages (often in the same song) makes them totally unique.

With the support of America's premier college radio and indie stations, DJ Bitman has been making his mark on the American electronic scene since his U.S. debut album, Musica Para Despues de Almuerzo, was released in 2006. By infusing classic hip-hop beats and lounge electronic music with the Latin pop sensibilities of his native Chile, DJ Bitman has amalgamated a style that is at once distinct and coolly infectious. "Shine," his first single off his latest release, Latin Bitman, has received regular U.S. radio play over the last year.
