Erica Essner Performance Co-Op

Friday, August 08, 2008
From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Central Park SummerStage

An evening of contemporary dance from two New York City-based choreographers known for combining soul-stirring themes with physical daring.

Founded in NYC in 1974, Jennifer Muller’s company The Works has a dynamic global presence, having toured 37 countries on four continents and 30 states. Based on Eastern philosophy, the Muller Technique relies on the human body’s energy system to inform dance movements. They have collaborated with a wide variety of artists, including Yoko Ono and Keith Haring.

The Erica Essner Performance Co-op enjoys regular performances at Jacob’s Pillow, The Joyce Soho and Dance Theater Workshop. Meaningful, emotional dance which chronicles the human condition is what makes the Co-op so dazzling. Founded in 1990, the company incorporates a physical narrative into its intense and compelling work. The co-operative process is revealed in the merging of unique and idiosyncratic movement styles.
